KoKanin — Privacy Policy

KoKanin is a virtual-creature game that grows a companion from your real-world wellness activity. This policy explains what data the app touches and what happens to it. The short version: your data stays on your device. We do not collect it, store it on servers, sell it, or share it.

Data the app reads, and why

• Health & fitness data via Health Connect (steps, hydration, nutrition, exercise sessions, sleep, mindfulness, calories) — read-only, and only for the data types you explicitly grant. This data is used solely to grow and evolve your in-game creature. It is processed and stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted off the device.
• Device sensors (step counter, ambient light, gyroscope, microphone level during the optional "sing to your egg" feature) — used only as live game input. Audio is never recorded or stored; the microphone is used only to detect that sound is present while the feature is active.
• Approximate location (GPS) — only when you tap "Enter my city". Your coordinates are sent once to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim geocoding service to identify the city you are in, so the game can generate that city's dungeon. The coordinates are used for that single lookup and are not stored by us. OpenStreetMap's own privacy policy is available at osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy.

What we do NOT do

• No accounts, no sign-in, and no personal information is requested.
• No data is uploaded to our servers — we do not operate any servers.
• No advertising, no ad SDKs, no analytics or tracking SDKs.
• No selling or sharing of data with third parties (the single exception being the one-time city lookup described above).
• Health Connect data is never used for advertising, credit, insurance, or any purpose other than the in-game features described here, in accordance with the Google Play Health Connect policy.

Data storage and deletion

All game state (your creature, items, progress, and daily activity totals derived from Health Connect) lives in the app's private storage on your device. You can erase everything at any time via Settings → Delete all data inside the app, or by uninstalling the app. Revoking a Health Connect permission immediately stops the app from reading that data type.

Children

KoKanin is not directed at children under 13. The app contains no ads, no purchases of any kind beyond the game's fictional currency, and no social features that expose personal information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
